I’m the Head of Product and Digital Engagement at the Ford Foundation.
Prior to Ford, I was a product manager at TED for nine years. I launched TED's education platform, paid membership program, live streaming service, and a wide range of additional public products and internal tools.
Before TED, I designed websites and graphics for Urban Arts Partnership, created and curated Show Us Your Clips, and taught design and art all over NYC.
In 2007, I co-founded a web magazine and clothing line. Previously, I co-founded a toy company. Neither made it past their fourth year, which is why no links.
Before all that, I was an industrial designer where I prototyped toys for Marvel, designed engine housings for Caterpillar, and made tiny LED lamps that sold at MoMA.
My first name is Bedirhan.
It's pronounced “Better,” like “better or worse,” and “Han,” like “Han Solo,” hence the website name Bedirhansolo.
